Visit Skye or the Applecross peninsula go toEilean Donan Castle or go on the glass bottomed boat from Kyle. The train journey to Kyle from Strathcarron station is fabulous; the track hugs the rocky indented coastline giving great views.
The beautiful Applecross peninsula, featured in Monty Hall's BBC television programme "The Great Escape", is close to the cottage. Getting to Applecross involves the memorable drive over Bealach na Ba (the pass of the cattle). Lochcarron, our nearest village, featured in the shinty match on Battery Park and also the resident dolphins who are often to be seen close to Slumbay Island at the end of Lochcarron village.

Visitors in this part of Wester Ross are spoilt for choice in places to eat. There are four restuarants, cafes and hotles in Lochcarron with very varied menus. Seafood is good and meat is generally locally supplied. There are also good pubs in Strathcarron, Shieldaig, Plockton and Applecross.
Lochcarron has an excellent range of shops and also has several garages and places to rent bikes and canoes. The pubs and the village hall often have entertainments in the evening.
Whether you want to visit Eilean Donan Castle or Strome Castle, go whale watching in Gairloch or potter around the beautiful Attadale Gardens there is always plenty to do. Gairloch, in addition to very fast ribs and open boats, now has a glass bottomed boat so that you can view the sea bed.
